As the global supply chain becomes more interdependent, the ASEAN region is receiving attention as both a center for production and a consumer market. In Vietnam in particular is achieving high economic growth in recent years. Also Vietnam is expected to strengthen the connection with all over the world because of the movement of the ‘China plus one’ and ‘Thailand plus one’.
This situation will require even more advanced logistics, and human resources that can respond to that needs will be vital.
According to a survey of domestic Vietnam companies held by Japan Institute of Logistics Systems (JILS) in September 2014, the following issues and needs exist for training logistics managers and logistics center leaders:
♦ There are no opportunities for specialized training in logistics.
♦ Companies would need logistics managers and logistics center leaders to find existing problems and improve logistics.
♦ Companies would need logistics managers and logistics center leaders to acquire basic knowledgeon logistics improvement methods and logistics cost management.
♦ Companies would need logistics managers and logistics center leaders to give improvement proposals based on quantitative data.
♦ Companies would need logistics managers and logistics center leaders to reduce logistics costs.
An accurate understanding of basic knowledge of logistics, logistics improvement and logistics cost management will become important in the future. Furthermore, in Vietnam,it is expected that the development of modern trading (GMS, CVS, etc.) will accelerate, so more advanced and complicated logisticsquality will become necessary. To meet those needs, it is urgently necessary to develop and train logistics managers and logistics center leaders.
Whereas, VNSC, METI, AOTS and JILS have collaborated to hold the training course focusing on themes of basic knowledge of logistics and logistics improvement.
Vietnamese logistics managers had received guidance on logistics from Japanese logistics experts in the trainer’s training which was held in 2016-2017. After the guidance, they devised a practical training program for Vietnam in consideration of the Vietnam logistics situation. And they will explain in an easy-to-understand in this training course.
We look forward to participation of assistant managers of logistics departments and leaders or supervisors in logistics center.
